The Health Council of the Cooperation Council States is an active Gulf organization in the health field, as it was established in Safar 1396 AH corresponding to February 1976 AD.
It is organizationally linked to the General Secretariat of the Arab States of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
It also enjoys a legal personality, financial and administrative independence, and the powers and competencies necessary to achieve all its objectives. Its membership is limited to the countries of the Cooperation Council, along with the Republic of Yemen, which joined it in 2003.
Advancing and upgrading the level of the health sector in Member States by presenting constructive initiatives, responding to regional and global health issues and challenges, supporting decision-making and health policies, and coordinating joint Gulf action to enhance cooperation and integration among Member States in the health field, in order to achieve the goals of the Council.
A Gulf organization with a prestigious regional and global position, which has a pivotal role, contributes effectively to advancing the process of cooperation and joint Gulf health action to achieve sustainable health.
Determine the concepts of various health and scientific issues, work to unify them, arrange their priorities, and adopt the implementation of joint programs in the GCC states

Evaluating the current systems and strategies in the field of health care and supporting successful experiences in the GCC countries and benefiting from them in the rest of the member states.
Providing safe, effective and high-quality medicine at affordable prices through the unified procurement program for medicines and medical equipment and the Gulf Central Drug Registration Program for pharmaceutical companies and pricing their products.
Raising the capacities of national medical cadres in the Member States.

The council’s strategy for the next three years is based on keeping pace with the health care strategy in the Gulf countries, with a focus on supporting the health sector through distinguished services and activities, as well as intensifying prevention and awareness programs for citizens and residents in order to Supporting the growth strategy of the Gulf public and private health sectors.
The Council’s annual reports come with the aim of highlighting the most important achievements of the various works and achievements in the GCC Health Council, and the most important programs and initiatives of the Council that have contributed to raising the efficiency of health systems, in cooperation with the ministries of health in the GCC countries.
